welcome to subtopia

It looks like a giant arm with a snowball, ready to crush the poor car, but it is the new landmark that points toward Subtopia in Alby (in the southern suburbs). A place for contemporary art forms - circus, dance, music, film among others. There are presently around 30 different activities going on there. See more?

Odd, but very impressive. Do you know if there's a light inside the ball that is switched on in the evening? Would be nice.

It also looks to me like a swimmers arm coming out of the water. I was imagining the car was his head.

I love this capture. Great job. The art in the area was interesting and interactive like the angle you captured. I also enjoyed your colors of solna photo. stunning.

Marc: Follow the link on "see more" and you will see the arm in nightlight (Hint: yes - it does shine).

Halcyon: You're right it could have been a swimmer.

Julie: Thanks

Carrie: I hope the bulb stays, but I'd say that if you park under it, you're going to get a ticket ;-)

JM: The car was a bonus. There were very few cars passing by that day. I didn't think of them until I turned to take that picture. I've got one exactly like this - but without the car. I fell for this one at the end.

What a peculiar image

Lena: Fantastic, I thought you knew all around that area :-)

Babooshka: Yeah, it looks kind of funny.

This might be a coincidence, but the car is a SAAB, and on the 18th, decisions were made that could easily crush the company, so maybe this one is symbolic ?

A great art piece. I have seen this in some newspapers. It looks like a monster's hand.

Great picture! We at Subtopia love your picture of our arm :). And for those who wonder: the arm is originaly a circus artists arm and it points towards our spaciuos suburban paradise!

Always good to be able to share a bit of suburbia. We're making an effort this year to venture somewhat farther outside the city now and then.

Thanks for stopping by and sharing a bit of your story, Subtopia.
