stadshagen hockey

A metro train arriving station Stadshagen. The "corrugated metal thingie" is an artwork depicting the two local rivalling ice hockey teams Djurgården and AIK. If you look from one side you see Djurgården score a goal, and from the other side AIK surely scores behind the Djurgården keeper. The artist is Lasse Lindqvist.

song to the sun

The Carl Milles sculpture Solsångaren - the sun singer. It was erected in 1926 in memory of Esaias Tegnér's poem Sång till solen (Song to the sun). Tegnér, a writer, professor of Greek language, and bishop was during the 19th century regarded as the father of modern poetry in Sweden.

summer garden

Trädgården - the Garden - is a summer club under the bridges between Skanstull and Gullmarsplan. Live music and DJ's, BBQ and drinks. I even saw some guys playing table tennis.

let there be light

The Katarina Church, the Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan's Mosque - commonly known as the Stockholm grand mosque - and some street lights seen from Medborgarplatsen. Let there be light on all people.

Note: The distance between the church and the mosque is approximately 250 to 300 metres.

metropolis

A metro train is arriving at Slussen metro station from Gamla stan.

Slussen is a jumble of roads and cars, metros, boats, trains and buses, stairs, elevators and escalators, bicycles and people right in the heart of Stockholm. Loved by some, hated by others.

going home

Ice on Årstaviken ("Årsta Bay") and people get an urge to go out walking on water. The old mill in the background - Skanskvarn at Gullmarsplan - is now a restaurant. The mill was closed in 1882 and is registered at paranormal.se as being haunted by the friendly ghost Linda.

up up and away

It's only up from here or Heaven is next stop.

No, this is not a black and white photo, it is in full colour. The photo is taken on the escalator up to the Jakobsberg commuter rail station platform. I think the lines and light are quite cool.

night watch

Inside St Jacob church beds are lined up as part of the performance installation Nattpass (Night watch). It is ok for anyone to spend the night in a bed in the church - they even give you a toothbrush and a piece of soap. You get to sleep till seven o'clock in the morning.

building a house

When you build a house you shouldn’t start at the top like this little yellow - or green or greenish yellow - man is doing. You should do it the other way around.

...and there was music

This young accordionist in Kungsträdgården had a different business idea than I’m used to. He first asked for money and only then played his instrument. A guy apparently paid too little and he only played a few notes. But at the girls' table he stayed a long time.

One of your average punk rockers waiting for the subway train to Alvik. The punks are like flowers in the concrete jungle: when the summer comes they bloom in all their colours.

three training toddlers

.Back in Rålamshovsparken (but not the same actual spot) we find these three little toddlers in a perfect synchronized display. I bet they will grow up and form a super gymnastics troop, win the world championships or something and strike the world with amazement.

on top of Tanto

On the first day of summer my soul mate and I climbed the "Tanto Mountain" and enjoyed a good day. Tanto is a large park on Södermalm (southern Stockholm city). In the park you find many allotments where people grow vegetables or just relax. Tanto is also, I have learned, a Japanese knife favored by the woman samurai. There is no connection between the two as the Tanto Park was named after one Hans Tanto who had an estate here in 1660.

Hiskeligt på Grönan

Terror at Gröna Lund

The bank is open in Sumpan

Jag är banktjänsteman, eller ICA-handlare … eller jag är nog … Nej, nu kommer jag ihåg! Jag är ICA-handlare. Det är jag säker på! Men jag hjälper gärna till. Med pengar och så. Sumpan i öppningsdags.
