T time in Hässelby gård
13 kilometers (and no less than 19 subway stations) west-north-west of the city lies Hässelby gård. This suburban district was created in the fifties, a time of rapid expansion and optimistic city planning. Some of the optimism may have faded but the subway station is still here. The Swedish word for subway is "tunnelbana" - hence the "T" symbol.

Optimism may be a driving force, when the times are right.
It looks nice.
the place looks kind of deserted for a "T" tunnel.
be positive...
change is good, let's hope this suburban town would do better.
Grey structures on a grey day in a predominantly grey month...
VP: And this suburb has seen good and bad times pass during more than half a century.
Luis Gomez: I'd settle for "functional". Not particularly pretty with all this concrete.
arabesque: Good point. I suppose most of Stockholm would count as seemingly deserted when compared to the largest cities of the planet. In this case, there's a better explanation. The trains from the city arrive every ten minutes and this is what it looks like in between...
Thanks all for stopping by Hässelby gård with us. One of many places in the county where we haven't set foot before so it was about time.
It does look very much like the European architectural post war style...
Nice shot, I like the angle here.
Do you meant the tunnelbana is no longer needed because the area did not grow as per optimistic expectations?
If so, it ain't over yet, right. Perhaps expectations optimistically produced years ago will find fruition in the years to come...
I just wish we had one tunnelbana!
As one can see from the photo, this part of the subway actually is an "above-way". Per, I hope you also have some from the next and last station Hässelby Strand.
Shame optimistic city planning uses so much grey cement...
Re-reading this post now, it occurs to me that associating optimism with all this greyness seems a bit ironic.
cieldequimper: Having lived through a war, people may well be happy with just about any architectural accomplishment...
Andreea: Thanks. So did I, in fact!
Jacob: My remark was rather vague. The tunnelbana is very much needed and the area has certainly grown but with a fair amount of accompanying social issues. Unemployment and so on.
Svenske Floyd: Definitely an above-way like most of this network! Hässelby strand will have to wait for a while yet but don't be surprised if the other neighboring station Johannelund turns up any day now.
Tinsie: Spot-on. A very good summary in fact.
Good of you all to stop by.
