St. Gertrude's Church
The narrow streets of the Old Town (Gamla Stan) are perfect for strolling. The highest point of the Old Town is this tower of the German Church (Tyska kyrkan) or St. Gertrude's Church. (here)

Gertrud! Who was she? A saint? I did not know this female name of this church. Interesting.A good photo.
Shh, don't tell anyone Lena but I didn't know either. Just read it in the encyclopedia. We'll show more of the German Church in the weeks to come. Meanwhile, we can read here.
Interesting! I read on the Swedish S:ta Gertruds church in Kungsbacka’s home page that St. Gertrud was an abbess from Nivelles in Belgium in the 7:th century, She is a patron saint for travellers and sea farers. Especially in Northern Europe she was often depicted with the church or hospital in the left hand and her abbess staff in the right.
I love the perspective because it conveys the density of the building structure there. It is beautiful church.
Per and Peter!
This was a good lesson. There are so many saints and Gertrud will be one of my favourite saints from now. It is good there is a saint for the travellers, you really need her when you are flying etc.
i love just like the rest also the perpective.
It was one of those occasions when it's hard to pick a few favourite photos afterwards. The weather was fully cooperating, I was on vacation and... well you know. So stay tuned for some more of St. Gertrude.
Thanks, all of you.
Per, you've been tagged, please visit my blog for the "rules", thanks.
