a work of art

On the roof of Kulturhuset (the Culture House) there are 768 homes as well as a playground for birds. Eric Ericson is the artist behind the project of multi storey bird homes. I have never seen a bird there, or a photo of a bird moving in or out or just hanging around. You can follow the (non) traffic via video link.

(Det här var lite roligt faktiskt: jag hann tänka "Men... vem fan har lagt upp min bild??" innan jag såg att det givetvis inte var min bild. Men just idag på morgonen har jag skickat en bild av Kulturhusloggan till Crimson, därav förvirringen!)

Kan det månne vara så att fåglar inte, som människor, går på att bo i silo bara för att ha råd att bo centralt? Det ser VÄLDIGT trångt ut för så många fåglar - jag kan inte klandra dem för att de ratar bygget, även om det var en intressant tanke. På sätt och vis.

According to the artist (Swedish text here) birds cannot be adapted to society as long as they fly around randomly. Birds still live like humans did tens of thousands of years ago and this is a first step in creating a modern society for animals...

I spent a lovely concert evening at that roof some months back, didn't see those birds nest though, which I suppose was a good thing seeing the actual location... Such a nice idea though!
