mid-month theme: subway day
From New York City to Fittja, this is the sculpture Non Violence by Carl Fredrik Reuterswärd. It was originally created in memory of the artist John Lennon and can also be seen in Malmö, Gothenburg and elsewhere in Stockholm. Out of 100 subway stations, 90 have been decorated with art. Here is the platform at Fittja station in Botkyrka.
subway day is a mid-month theme shared by the following blogs:

Nice art work. Most of the subway art in NYC are smaller and more subtle.
Will the next US President do something against free arm selling ?
A nice decoration of the subway stations is important! This seems also to be a piece of art which will resist against time (and vandalism)!
I like the sculpture—it's a strong image and gives a strong statement too. We need some here in Metro Manila.
Great picture. I believe a similar sculpture is located in the United Nations Plaza in NYC.
This artwork expresses my feelings about guns perfectly!
Interesting sculpture...Just stopped by to look at your lovely photos. Cheers from West Sacramento Photo of the Day.
I like this sculpture. The message is clear!
This is such a lovely sculpture! I think it's spread all over the world, I know they have one in Cape Town too.
Yes, I know this one from Stockholm, a great idea with this pistol!
It's a striking sculpture with a bit of extra glow from a couple of spotlights.
Ming(tm): This is quite small as well, I got real close for this shot.
Deslilas: I guess most voters expect their right to bear arms to be upheld and this probably won't be challenged anytime soon.
Peter: Yes, art is important and this particular piece looks pretty robust.
Hilda: A strong statement indeed.
D.C. Confidential: You're so right. That piece was donated to the UN.
Coltrane_lives: I couldn't agree more!
Barbara: Cheers to West Sacramento as well!
Halcyon: Not all modern art has this kind of immediate appeal.
Pia K: In Cape Town as well?
Andrea Gerak: You've seen it on Sergelgatan as well, of course.
Thanks all for stopping by and celebrating Subway Day together with us!
I've always liked this one. I wonder if Carl Fredrik is related to Oscar Reuterswärd?
