mid-month theme: subway day

Subway through Venice of the North

In Stockholm, also known as Venice of the North, it’s only natural that some subway passages are over water. The photo is taken from the southern Södermalm towards subway station Old Town and Riddarholmen (Knight Islet). On the extreme left is City Hall.

Subway day is a mid-month theme shared by the following blogs:

Love the shot here. The color of the sky and the buildings in the background are amazing.

Wonderful, and the living eyes of the underground; yellow and red. It is a bit angry. Will do its job.

This is remarkably good. I always find this hour difficult. There's too little light for regular day-time shots and at the same time way too much for my kind of blue studies.

It's also an appropriate scene since water is a defining property of this city. Incidentally, water is something we'll be concentrating on this fall. Stay tuned for that.

Stockholm is always a wonderfull city but its coloured open-air nights along the water are my favorites.

Yes, this is wonderful! And it is also beautiful to travel with the subway at this spot in town.

*Elaine*: From my perspective Brugges could compete for the title Venice of the South ;o)
