water week: negotiating icy waters

Saltsjöbaden (nowadays part of Nacka Municipality) was established as a sea side resort. The single most important event here during the twentieth century was the Saltsjöbaden Agreement on industrial relations which paved the way for decades of strong growth and a peaceful labor market. This quiet icy harbour will soon be a busy place again as winter gives way to warmer seasonal sensations for sailors of various calibers.

Vackra färger och en fint komponerad bild!
Något lugnt, svalt och kallt över den, både motiv och färger.

You did a good job by clicking this image in black and white.

When spring finally does happen it's a rapid process. We've had warm weather over the recent few days and any remnants of ice are vanishing rapidly.

Lena Johansson: Tack. Bara några veckor se'n och så annorlunda allt känns redan. Jag har svårt för den sortens mulna väder men den här blev jag nöjd med.

humanobserver: The entire landscape was in b/w on that particular Sunday. Do take a closer look at the buoy on the quay... ;)

Thanks for dropping by and don't forget to visit Pia and Fredrik a well.

Happy water week !

Goodness, it still looks cold! If you get the chance, perhaps you could take a similar shot when things have warmed up.

It's a great photo, though. Gives me the shivers.

Wonderful spring shot!!! ;-)

Hope you're all having a great, murmuring water week .

Jacob: As you can see, this was taken on 15 March but until a week or so ago I'd say it would have looked pretty much the same. Now the story is a lot sunnier and less icy. Good point though, I'd like to return here.

cieldequimper: Spring can be irresistible, right? ;) Well, they could certainly have used some of your surplus daffodils right there on the quay.

Thanks!

Nice capture! And I do like the name of the boat (which I'm sure had something to do with the picture being taken...:)

Wow. I hope it warms up up there soon!

That name trigger my imagination!
Happy Water Week!

Looks a bit cold. I'm starting to freeze now, despite being a Nordic explorer myself!

I really like the angle you shot the ship!

As to the temperature of the sea water here, it must now be around 12ºC which is pretty cold for me! I'll have to wait to take a swim... :-)

To your question on my blog, I am planning to do a series of photography on Indian fruits. Hope you will enjoy them. Have a nice day.

There's a famous hotel here by the water as well.

Pia K: You don't say! ;)

Halcyon: It has already warmed up but you could still find ice in the waters surrounding the city. Not for long though.

Fredrik: I thought it would be a proper beginning!

Steffe: This beautiful venue is being exploited for new housing projects so I guess there are many interesting stories here to be told.

JM: I like the angle too. 12C in the water? Well, that's what we have in the air on a particularly sunny afternoon...

Carrie Hayes: Fear not, it has already arrived.

humanobserver: Good to know.

Appreciate all your comments. Happy water week everyone!
