the Fittja connection (2)

Fittja in Botkyrka has 7500 residents. 65% of them are of foreign descent. Thanks to the subway, the inner city is easily within reach. See more?

I was distracted by the rest of your post by that number: 65%!

how the subway moves at this speed while you took this photo... amazing! and 65% are foreigners?! hmmm...that's quite plenty!

That's a high number. In Jordbro where I often take photos the number is around 50%.

Is it a new city or have the locals moved elsewhere? Great shot of the moving train!

Are foreigners taking over every country?

I like the blurry effect. Very nice!

As many as 25% are in fact foreign citizens. Having immigrants geographically concentrated like this is a colossal failure in city planning as well as integration policy.

Vogon Poet: And it's not a typo.

Pia K: Not my kind of light really but this one turned out the way I was hoping for.

arabesque: The speed isn't terribly high but this was a long exposure at dusk.

Steffe: 50% is already a high figure!

Tinsie: Fittja was established in the seventies. I would guess that the figure has been rising slightly but the trend was pretty clear from the outset.

B Squared: Spot on! There's a growing national party here devoted to that very theory. Foreigners are their standard scapegoats for everything from ingrowing nails to lousy weather...

Halcyon: Glad you like it.

Steffe: Indeed! :)

Thanks all for bridging the gap with us.

Hej! Fittja är också nära mig. Var på Subtopia idag för att höra vad som är på gång i Alby, en trevlig Fittjapolis pratade med mig och två andra fröknar, spännande, han trivs på sitt jobb och har känsla för våra ungdomar där. :-)

I like the composition here, with the framework static and sharp and the train blurred as it speed along!

Excellent photo!

And I'm so jealous, wishing very badly that we had such public transportation!

A lot more from Botkyrka can be found in our sidekick blog here.

Lena Johansson: Känner du till om andelen utlandsfödda har varit lika hög hela tiden i Fittja?

Jacob: Thanks! Many people find reasons to complain but our public transport system is really superb.

Good to have you stopping by.
