St. Gertrude's Church (4)

Remember St. Gertrude's Church - The German Church ? Let's step inside. The altar is from 1659 and was created by Markus Hebel from Neumünster, Holstein. See more?

Beautiful. Soft lighting, superb religious art.

Impresive art and great craftmanship, which I like even more than art.

I echo VP's comment. Most impressive.

Very fancy!

It's gorgeous!

As to the size of the fern, Per, there is a trunk, so, imagine a palm tree whose canopy is above the window of a common first floor.

St. Gertrude was a Benedictine nun in the 13th century.

cieldequimper: It really is.

Vogon Poet: Good point about the craftsmanship. A good design is a great start but someone has to make it come true as well.

B Squared: A lot to see in there.

Halcyon: On my (few) visits I've been impressed by how they manage to strike a balance between welcoming tourists while maintaining this as quiet place and a house for worship. Some Swedish churches fail miserably in that respect.

JM: I couldn't decide on the most clever angle so here was the simplest solution.

Good of you all to stop by St. Gertrude with us.

I love the German church, it's gorgeous! I took loads of photos last time I was there, you've reminded me to go back to them and have a look!

oh, i remember this one...
love the angle, the stained glass on both sides but what captivated me most was the altar. ^0^

That is so ornate. Rather incredible compared to many modern churches. I like the stained glass, too!

Fantastic! This is one photo that should be enlarged to appreciate the magnificent details.

We'll show some more of that marvellous glass one day.

Tinsie: A beautiful as well as a friendly place. Good luck with visiting again soon and do let us know what you find...

arabesque: Glad you like it too.

Jacob: Right you are. So very different from the modern ones. I like some of those too but for entirely different reasons.

Hilda: Appreciate that. Just a click away...

Thanks all.
