daily photo theme day: yellow sub(way station)
For Yellow Day, we're back down under. That is, under street level. We're still in Stockholm of course. This very yellow wall is at the subway station Medborgarplatsen (Civic Square). The tiles are partly from the Thirties. The mosaic from 1997 by Mari Pårup is called approximately "the sun and time have their way".

The April theme is Yellow

That must brighten up the underground during winter commuting.

Yellow is such a happy colour and so a great choice to brighten up the subway. Nice choice.
hmmm. Interesting image. that man looks like a ghost.
Very nice choice for the theme day. I like the contrast of the black shadowy person and the bright wall.
Happy April!
This is such a great choice. I love the movement-frozen-in-time blur of the figure against that patterned backdrop. Lovely!
What a smiling and cheerful underground!
1930s? Wow, amazing that they've survived all these years.
I like the mosaic, especially for an underground tunnel. Happy choice for theme day!
Bella!!
ciao anthony from Milan
I am a quiltmaker and it is a pleasure to find patterns in the underground. :-)
Yellow and underground. A double treat
I like this! Nice shot!
Sally: Hope so. It cheered me up.
humanobserver, Halcyon & Laurie: I waited deliberately for one person to pass, hoping to get that image.
Lena: Glad to be of assistance :-)
And to the rest of you, thanks for commenting.
This is such a great shot. One of my favorites for theme day so far! :)
What a great wall!! Love the yellow
Most interesting. But, one thing: I didn't think ghosts showed up at all when photographed!
Great choice for yellow day.

Not the most subtle of lighting for the mosaics, Per. However, the yellow of the original 1930s tiles is holding its age very well. I do like the motion of the figure in the forground.
Beautiful design. I wonder why yellow works so well in subways - maybe because it brings thoughts of sunlight underground.
Lovely entry for TD.
Torrey: Thanks :-)
Jacob: Oh, but they do...You just have to catch the off guard...
Julie: I agree, but there wasn't much I could do about it. When I tried to underexpose, the wall was not yellow any more. BTW, I'm Bernt today.
Thanks once more to the rest of you who cared to comment.
