Turinge church

This is the main church in Nykvarn Municipality. There are two others, but none as old as this one. The oldest parts are from the 12th century and like many churches it has been extended. In 1802 lightning struck the old churchtower and it had to be rebuilt.

Unfortunately the church was closed on this day, even though I did encounter a clergyman outside asking me if I was a guest for the baptism he was supposed to perform in about 10 minutes. Turned out though that he was sent to the wrong church, and had to rush away to the right one. We'll check on that one a little later.

Beautiful church, a lightning striking a church sound like some kind of disregard...
Like the scene you described about the clergyman and the wrong church. When they use this in movies it sounds so fake, but it does happen!

Sounds familiar, just like the Medieval Västerhaninge church where lightning has struck twice!

Lightning on a church DOES sound like someone above is cross (hmmm, no pun intended)....

Leif Hagen: Inside, well that's another story. Nowadays you need to be in church on those days when there's a sermon. You would think that there would be one every sunday, but obviously not. Perhaps there will be an "inside job" in the future. Stay tuned for Taxinge church. In- and outside job...
