a celebrated construction

Slussen (the Lock) from above. Built in 1935, a well functioning construction handling an intense and increasing north-south bound traffic. It was, according to sources, prepared for the change from left-hand traffic to right-hand traffic that was enforced 32 years later.

Slussen will be replaced in the future as the construction is in bad shape. Still, it was well ahead of its time and should be celebrated. From above must be the best way to understand how it works.

This is what it looks like well below.

By the way: Note todays date - 08-08-08. Celebration!

We could learn a thing or two from that kind of planning decades ahead of time.
