Christmas shopping

photo: Lennart Gabrielsson

Christmas shopping with chandeliers and blue diode sky in Vällingby just outside Stockholm city. Indoor or semi-indoor shopping is perhaps a good thing when it's dark and cold outside.

Also nice with a roof when it's raining as it does a few miles to the south from Vällingby. Haven't really noticed any Christmas spirit anywhere this year.

I like those overhead lights. Very neat. I am really looking forward to being in Berlin in a few weeks. I love the shopping atmosphere over there. The sterile malls here in the US are just not the same.

I agree. These malls that conservative people whine about are very apt in our clime. It can be dark and cold in summer too!

Most new shopping centers are boring but I do agree that our climate calls for new measures.

Unfortunately, this is still very much outdoor shopping. IMHO, the renovation of Vällingby has been a costly fiasco. Billions of SEK later it's still an outdoor shopping centre. A glass roof high in the air improves the aesthetics but doesn't make a lot of difference in keeping shoppers warm.
