daily photo theme day: A Highlander in Stockholm

text & photo: Pia K

Stockholm isn't only about inner city moments and sceneries, oh no, we musn't forget suburbia which can be quite a happening place where some of the most amazing views and encounters can be had. Thus one of my most treasured moments from 2008 was the wonderful and very hairy encounter of the Highlander kind in the suburb of Märsta.

Always being more than fond of these fascinating, adorable ancient looking animals and then actually being able to meet, greet and moo-chat, making new friends with Ruffle, Tousle, Goldilocks and companions in the outskirts of one's own city can only be described as
one of last year's best and a simply magical treat.

With hopes of many such magical moments and treasured treats for 2009 ~

Happy New Year!

The January theme is "Best of the year 2008". We didn't want to do a rerun of our own material. So, instead, we asked our friend Pia to interpret this theme for us. 151 members of City Daily Photo have promised to join on this day.

We really should pay more attention to suburbia in the coming year. Thanks for giving us a flying start, Pia. Moo!

What an unusual and magnificent looking animal! I've never seen anything like it (and I don't think it can survive in our heat). Is it tame enough to approach?

Happy theme day!

Thanks for letting me, Per! That's a good intention, suburbia isn't half bad...:)

Hilda, they are gorgeous and seem very friendly and sweet overall, this one didn't approach me and the fence though.

Thanks, Svenske Floyd, Patty and Abe, babooshka!

Nice capture. Looks like he is dressed for winter.

Happy New Year!!

It does indeed look like an ancient animal, dressed for the cold of Sweden. Though today Boston is probably as cold. Happy theme day! And happy new year too. Wishing you peace and prosperity in 2009.

This does not look like the suburbia I grew up in (thank goodness)! A most enjoyable photo, thank you.

Happy New year to all of you! I'm looking forward to the coming year of Stockholm by Pixels.

The Heery Coo has long been a favourite of mine as well, but in Stockholm?

I hope you have a fantastic 2009!
