intermission at stora scenen

There's no shortage of theaters in Stockholm. The local epicenter for drama is undoubtedly the Royal Dramatic Theatre (Dramaten) by Nybroplan. Here's a view from an intermission at their most prestigious stage, Stora scenen. One gentleman seems to be late for his cup of coffee, the rest are already stretching their legs.

Please vote for the March theme, if you haven't yet. And please help spread the word too! :)

Awesome place and photo too! I love old theaters and this one seems to be a must see.

What a beautiful venue. I love the drape of the curtain, the gilded accents, and the solitary gentleman. Great catch.

Very nice theater. I'm surprised everyone went out at the intermission. Usually there are a few that don't like to move!

This old house offers a great atmosphere for anyone interested in performing arts.

Bhavesh Chhatbar: Thanks. I never sit in the back row but it's a heck of a place to get an overview of the architecture.

Hilda: We'd have to keep that in mind. Meanwhile, here's an official interactive guide. (Click on any blue dot for the view from that seat.) And yes - the March vote has been cast.

Julie: It most certainly is.

JM: The most recent years haven't been that spectacular but they've got a new director now and there's such a lot of history here. I keep mentioning director Ingmar Bergman and of course his legacy is very much alive here.

brattcat: In fact, the drape of the curtain was what initially made me pick up my camera.

Halcyon: I'm sure some did stay behind but the seats aren't particularly comfy so stretching one's legs is a good idea...

Thanks all for commenting.

This is beautiful! We do not have any theaters like this here. I would be wonderful to see in person.

All in all, Dramaten has six stages, three of them in this old house.

White Oleander: Sure is. Do check out the interactive guide I mentioned in a previous comment.

Carrie Hayes: We don't mak'em like this anymore either so let's hope we can preserve the heritage.

humanobserver: Glistening...

Thanks all.

Tack, Helena! Visst är det ett härligt hus.
