keep on truckin'

Five Scania trucks in line, waiting to be delivered. Scania was founded the year 1900 in Malmö in the southernmost part of Sweden. They are now a world renown manufacturer of heavy trucks, buses and diesel engines.

One the really few world famous brand names, in its distinctive colors.

In A Row. I like this one. I met a Scania worker a few days ago. He will show up on my blog any day now.

That's an interesting photo. It took me a while to realise what I was looking at!

I used to live in Angers and there was a big Scania factory there as well. Very nice photo!

Do they have any connection to Volvo?

I believe Scania and Saab were once part of the same group. I don't think they ever had ties to Volvo - but correct me if I'm wrong!

@Halcyon: You are right of-course! Saab and Scania was one company from 1969 to 1990. Investor, an investment company controlled by the Wallenberg family, wanted to sell off Scania to Volvo in 1999 but the deal was refused by the EU competition authority. Hence Sweden still has two successful manufacturers of heavy trucks and buses.
