daily photo theme day: is this really Stockholm?

Not really sure what city this might be. Somewhere in Scotland perhaps? But, no. It's actually Stockholm in disguise. Taken a few years ago during the Quarneval arranged by the Royal Institute of Technology every third year. .
Häpp, var är vi? Ett inslag från Quarnevalen för några år sedan får illustrera månadens tema "City Exchange", och då har ni redan gissat att vi faktiskt inte lämnat Stockholm. Nästa Quarneval går 2008.

77 Daily Photo sites are participating in the 1st May theme, "City Exchange", please use the links below to visit them. Due to time zone differences and other factors, the theme photo may not be displayed until later
if you are viewing early in the day.

Hey, this is fun! Do you know what pipeband this is? A Swedish band?

I play the bagpipe myself in the only Norwegian bagpipe band (that counts, haha) so this is really cool!

A nice photograph of something I never saw before. Amazing what one can learn on this blog.

My Theme Day portrait is of the "Peashooter" and the National Museum of the United States Air Force. Hope you like flying.

That's really funny! Never thought of people wearing kilts in Sweden. Is it warm enough?? ;-)

lothiane: I'm not sure. It might have been the Thistle Pipe Band, but it might also have been something just for the event.

edwin s: If I had taken a worm's view, I would have been trampled...

mandi: In the summer it is ;-)

We have a Scottish festival each year complete with bagpipes. I have to work at developing an appreciation for the sound.

denton: You're right. Most things can be enjoyed in moderate proportions though. In this case it was part of a parade, and I could choose to listen or not.

Cool photo. I didn't know bagpipes are used outside of Scotland.

There are a lot of things from Scotland used outside of Scotland. Think whisky :-)
