daily photo theme day: view from my bedroom

The Liljeholmen Bridge opening its driveway one night to let a vessel leave Lake Mälaren. As seen from my bedroom window. The lighty thing to the left of the lamppost is the tail of the ship.

Nice view to wake up and see.

Wouldn't it be different if you woke up in my house and looked out the bedroom window? My site shows what you would see.

Did you four have to fight to post or were you all democratic and decide to vote?

I tried to make sense of the photo, but there's something that I don't understand about the image of the vessel -- it seems to be hovering over the water the way I see it.

Nice living so close to the water - great view.

It must be nice to see the boats passing by when the bridge is open...

A view of the water and ship traffic would be nice. We worry about street noise. I guess you worry about ship horns.

Abraham Lincoln: Peter’s the only contributor with a truly *city* view. The rest of us are sort of suburb:ers or even living in a relative wilderness.

Z: Good question. Fortunately we’ve got our sidekick blog plenty so there’s room for everyone but this time we only came up with one idea.

Lothiane, Nathalie, Chris in Madison, alice, Olivier: I agree, it’s a great view and a good shot.

Thanks all for commenting! Peter’s off-line at the moment but he’ll be able to clarify details on this particular view. After all it’s his window! :)

I really appreciate night photos.
Happy DP Them day ;)

I feel right at home in your view. Seattle has a ship canal with two bridges that work just this way! Wonderful night shot!

Thank's everybody for your kind comments, and thank's Per for holding the fort while I was on my whiskey tour on Islay, Scotland!

Actually, this is the same bridge as we see on the post running up that hill.

Abraham: Yes, I guess you'd be pretty surprised to find a boat in your back yard!

Z: I assure you, it is not the Flying Dutchman. The stillness of the night and quite a long shutter time does the trick.

Alice: I only moved here recently and can still just drop everything I have at hand to look at the ships. Unfortunately, the larger ships are very few.

PaB: I do agree, night photos are (difficult but) great. Take a look at this great one from Théâtre Des Célestins in Lyon.

Denton: Most of the "big shipping" has moved out from inner Stockholm (we still have some huge cruise ships) and the ships that traffic the waters are not making too much noise.
