non-violence in Täby

Täby is a reasonably peaceful suburb, 15 km north of the city. At the Roslagsbanan train station is a replica of the sculpture Non-Violence by Carl Fredrik Reuterswärd. We've spotted it before in Stockholm, here and here.

That gun has a very looong barrel!
I catched a copy of this sculpture at the Swedish cultural centre in Paris.

Very interesting sculpture...and no doubt sends an important message...it should probably include a desk from one of the corporate boardrooms which profit so mightily from violence around the world...

Great shot! *peng* That's a very powerful sculpture. Reminds me of the anti-gun statue in front of the United Nations building in New York.

I guess it's also a good place to rest your shopping bag while reading the newspaper!

It's a multi-tasking piece of art.

There is a fourth instance of this sculpture here in Stockholm which we have yet to capture.

Vogon Poet: A long shot, sort of... I didn't know about the one in Paris.

Jacob: I'm sure Reuterswärd would agree with you. He created Non-Violence after the violent death of artist John Lennon.

Buenos Aires Photoblog: This same sculpture is situated by the UN building, that's right.

Halcyon: A multi-purpose, multi-tasking, single-message piece of art indeed!

Good of you all to join us in celebrating art with a purpose.

I love Reuterswärd's gun, replica or not! :-)

Reuterswärd has made a point of having this sculpture installed in many places so I guess they are just multiple instances and not really replicas.

Anyway, I agree with you - this is one powerful symbol. Thanks, JM.

Great shot! Love the gun and the people, esp. the girl on the left.

There's a large shopping mall nearby so maybe she's done some shopping and bought some coffee to go. Thanks, Tinsie.
