tiles of the unexpected

Artist Sivert Lindblom has decorated Västra skogen subway station. I wonder how many glazed tiles he used for shapes like these. See more?

Ett underbart lapparbete, men inte i tyg! Spännade färger ihop, vilken tunnelbanekonst vi har!

Like the shine and the gleam! Nice perspective, too!

These stations sure are colorful.

I really like this sculpture. It's so colorful! It must make the morning commute a little brighter.

I love the title of the post!

This is really beautiful, I like this one more than the nightmarish red and green one!

It must be rewarding for an artist to know that you've made a lasting impression by designing a station like this one.

Lena Johansson: Det är verkligen väl komponerat, enkelt och slagkraftigt mönster.

Buenos Aires Photoblog: I tried another one with a bit of platform as well but it wasn't much to look at.

Tinsie: Folks, remember where you read it first! "Very Stockholm" ;)

B Squared: We should bring you a grey one for a change, there are quite a few of those as well. Mostly older stations above ground.

Halcyon: Good point. To me, the morning commute is really what all these works of art are about.

cieldequimper: Glad you noticed! :)

Vogon Poet: These are a couple of adjacent stations and yet quite different.

Thanks all for sharing a few tiles with us!

Oh yes, I like that; the colors and shapes. Magnificent!

But it is "very Stockholm" ;-)

Stockholm underground stations are very distinctive.

This is so eye-catching! Great composition and I agree with Ciel about the title.

Per, thank you for your congratulations and nice words!

Hopefully a material easy to defend against spray-painting vandals.

Jacob: I spent a couple of hours at this station and this was in fact the very first shot.

Tinsie: I like that expression! There are quite a few grey and dull stations as well which we tend to ignore (I wonder why) but you're right - there's a lot sparkling under ground in terms of these newer stations.

JM: We've been doing this since 2005 and it took us a while to find a good format so it's really impressive to see what you have achieved in just one year.

Thanks everyone. Don't forget that the real thing is coming up - another subway day on the 15th.
