needles and pins

No pigeons were harmed in the making of this blog post.

It's not as bad as it looks. That said, this bird in Hallunda is having all sorts of difficulties trying to find a spot to sit under a roof among all these pigeon spikes. Their purpose is to make it impossible for the bird to perch or nest here.

Eeek! Not as bad as it looks, eh? I'll take your word for it.

My sympathy for pigeons is really limited, only a bit more than roaches.
Not for the birds, but obviously for the massive spreading of their dejections...

Stubborn pigeons! The mess they make on my balcony!Grrrr... I like your 'no harm' note! :-)

Now, if only they made these for squirrels!

These spikes do fulfil their purpose, as far as I can tell.

Tinsie: Let me put it this way. The next moment he abandoned this project and flew away, very much unharmed by those nasty spikes. But it does look a lot worse, I agree.

Vogon Poet: Oh yes, the spreading... Say no more.

JM: Well they wouldn't dare come near my balcony and they have to be somewhere! ;)

Halcyon: That specific feature will be included in a future release!

Thanks all for monitoring the well-being of our feathered friends.

Those pigeon spikes are effective but they disfigure the cityscape. I learnt recently that dummies or even images of snakes might be a more effective way without the optical and physical impact.

BTW, Smokie would like your post title. (;

They don't give up easily, though! Hopefully, the spikes will work and the rascal will find another place to drop his droppings!

Lever duvorna i Hallunda så äventyrligt?

I don't mind pigeons but we could certainly do without some of the tracks they leave behind.

Buenos Aires Photoblog: Hope you liked the title too!

Not sure about those dummies. I once had a neighbour who tried all sorts of dummies in his garden without any measurable success. But you're right about the spikes. They certainly don't enhance the visual appeal of anything.

Jacob: Dripping droppings will be dropped elsewhere.

Lena Johansson: Det ser så ut. Han (?) flög runt en bra stund, till synes utan någon framgång, i jakten på en bra plats att vila.

Again, thanks all.
