say what? winter here!?
It doesn't take much. Snowfall and high winds brought road traffic to a standstill in parts of the city. Several bus services were cancelled altogether yesterday. Some planners were probably envisioning something entirely different.

This would be understandable here, not over there! Do they know this is the Nothern emisphere?
I'm with VP, I'm VERY surprised! The chaos yesterday (and today probably judging by the size of the snowflakes falling right now)was "normal" in France but in Sweden??? I can't believe it!
no, i don't think i can't relate to any of this "snow". ^0^ it looks very cold though...
Looks like a white Christmas in Stockholm! God helg och God Jul!
Snow in Sweden? Say it ain't so.
For the first time in my life I was hitchhiking to my job because no bus could go in the snowy weather this day.Chaos!
Snow is not a trivial matter and wind certainly doesn't make it easier. Still, I can't rid myself of the feeling that when I was a kid we had more snow, more winter weather, more people involved in keeping roads clean and consequently traffic used to flow fairly well. Then again, maybe I choose to recall the good moments?
Vogon Poet: Maybe there has been draconic cutbacks in budgets?
cieldequimper: Part of the responsibility lies with car drivers who fail to prepare themselves and their vehicles. One car with the wrong tyres can block a street.
arabesque: About -5C when I shot this. We've seen worse.
Leif Hagen: Possibly! It's beginning to look a lot like...
B Squared: We're all stunned!
Lena Johansson: Help me refresh my memory, Lena. Did we have these same difficulties some 20-30 years back?
Good of you all to join us waiting for the bus!
Hitchhiking to my job is new for me - so this snowweather seems to be something very special, has not happened in my life before.
Oh, ugh! Looks just like the Minnesota I knew in my younger days.
I only like snow for looking at. Not being in. Global warming is fine by me!
A good documentary image. i guess that is what we will get tomorrow.... snow I mean.
Sadly, I don't see snow here in Dallas, TX! I guess we always want what we can't have. We wear shorts here for Christmas most years. :-( It’s been a little chilly here lately between 45-50(F) Burrr. I’m dreaming of a white Christmas…. It’s just not going to happen.
I'm surprised. I thought you would get a lot of snow. About having more snow in the past, there is less on our mountains in Oregon than before, and when I lived in Colorado (elevation about 4,200, so not too high) older people told me they could remember 2 or 3 feet of snow. The most I ever saw in 8 years there was 4 inches at one time.
:) This happened in Bucharest years in row, with the city hall saying they were unprepared and were "taken by surprise by such an early snow" (that being in late December). But in the last years they were more prepared and started cleaning the streets soon after it started snowing. Still the traffic on Tuesday (first day it snowed) was horrible.
@ Per - Here, even with cuts in the budgets, they always manage to find money for the silliest things leaving none for the relatively unexpected...
Same here. Everything shuts down. I wonder what people up north say about this. They live with it six months a year.
Great light and perspective in this one!
Pfff. London comes to a complete standstill with a lot less snow than that. Admit it, you guys are amateurs :-p
The forecast says we'll have another decimeter of snow during the next 24 hours.
Lena Johansson: Let's hope it remains a unique experience...
Jacob: A week later now and that white stuff keeps on falling.
Halcyon: At least a bit of selective warming on carefully chosen days...
Gunn White: And so you did, I'm sure.
Carrie Flicka: That's a good summary. We want what we can't have. There aren't many in this town who would regret wearing shorts for Christmas! :)
tapirgal: So far, this is actually a perfectly normal winter. What has us confused is the fact that normal winters are rare these days. Go figure!
Andreea: Ha ha, I like that excuse. Early snow in late December! ;)
Vogon Poet: Fortunately, you won't have to wrestle droves of snow at least...
Fredrik: Thanks. I bet the good folks in the northern half of our country wonder what's wrong with us. As usual.
Tinsie: Amateurs indeed! ;)
Thanks everyone.
