Sunlight has been a scarce resource lately. Having it framed among these pillars of society seems like an excellent idea. We're underneath the E4 motorway bridge in Södertälje. And we're not alone...
The bridge is opened 10-15 times per day for the benefit of naval traffic. No, we can't see Södertälje Canal in this photo but trust me - there's plenty of water in the vicinity.
During such a routine operation the bridge partly collapsed in 1990. No one was injured but motorway traffic remained severely hampered during a lengthy restoration effort.

Andreea: That's the illusion I was trying to convey! :)
B Squared: Nah, there's even a bus stop here so it's got to be a respectable place.

Halcyon: Thanks! Luck is certainly useful. I happened to be strolling by when the sun was low. Long shadows tend to create interesting effects.
Good to have you all for company under this bridge!

What does it mean we are not alone? Ghosts?
Interesting perspective, looks like the bridge goes on to infinity and beyond.
Seems like a good place not to be alone.
who's with you? ^0^
from the looks of the foto, who would've thought it was underneath the bridge...
captivating depth.
I love this picture! I couldn't tell what is was from thumbnails, and it's still not totally apparent that this is the underside of a bridge.
Great use of the light and perspective.

You took good advantage of the sun light, Per! You know, I'm having a similar idea, but allways menaged to get there at the wrong timing... Lol!
Very intriguing shot - I really like the contrasts and the "infinity-perspective" as Andreea pointed out too... Thumbs up!
Okay, I get the point!
Helt fantastiskt brofoto! Som ryska gummor i varandra.
Må gott i snövädret!
Intriguing photo - a very classic look. I like the warm colors. Sometimes it's nice to see the sun :)
There are so many interesting bridges. Some day this series will continue.
JM: Again, good luck with your version! :)
Jenny: Thanks. I wasn't entirely happy with the focus but the composition certainly turned out the way I was hoping for.
Jacob: And sunlight remains a scarce resource.
Lena Johansson: Broar är kul!
tapirgal: To be perfectly honest, I prefer the b/w version (do follow the link) but I'm glad you liked this one.
Thanks folks.
Very nice :-)
The sun works wonders. Even concrete can become... sort of interesting. Thanks, Tinsie.
